Dental Teeth Veneers
Edmonds, WA

dental veneers rendering at Edmonds Dental Studio in Edmonds, WAIf you want a million-watt Hollywood smile, then veneers may be the answer for you.

At Edmonds Dental Studio, Dr. Hasan Dbouk understands that if your teeth are chipped, crooked, or permanently stained, it can crush your self-confidence. Fortunately, veneers provide a viable solution for such teeth.

What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are custom-fitted to your teeth. These dental restorations aim at covering mild, cosmetic defects in your teeth, which not just improve their aesthetics but also offer you more comfort and better functionality.

Veneers may be placed on a single tooth or multiple teeth. It typically takes about two sessions to complete a veneer placement procedure. Depending on your level of care and type of veneer, you can expect these restorations to last for seven to 20 years.

Who Is a Candidate for Dental Veneers?

People who have certain mild or superficial damage or defect in their teeth may be eligible for dental veneers:
•  Repairing Chips or Cracks in Teeth: Your teeth may develop chips and cracks due to trauma or lifestyle habits like chewing on very hard things like ice. Dental veneers can help restore your cracked enamel by placing a veneer on the surface of your tooth.
•  Repairing Worn Down Enamel: Many people are in the habit of clenching their teeth when stressed. This condition can lead to wearing down of the enamel over time, which can lead to tooth sensitivity. Dental veneers can be placed on these sensitive teeth to prevent discomfort and further enamel damage.
•  Improving Tooth Shape: Some people have naturally small teeth or slightly crooked teeth, which mar the aesthetics of their smile. Dental veneers can help you elongate your teeth or cover the crooked shape in a conservative way.
•  Filling Gaps in Between Teeth: If your teeth have minor gaps, food debris can get stuck in them, thereby leading to the accumulation of plaque. Dental veneers can cover minor gaps in between your teeth and give you a straight and healthier smile.
•  Discolored Teeth: Although teeth whitening can brighten your teeth several shades, there are some stains that cannot be so easily removed. Dental veneers can be used to cover teeth with such permanent stains and give you a bright white smile.

What Does Placement of Dental Veneers Involve?

Depending on the type of problems that need to be fixed, Dr. Hasan Dbouk will take different approaches to your treatment. Typically, however, a dental veneer is placed in two sessions.

In the first session, we will check the condition of your teeth and may also take an x-ray of your teeth. We will then administer local anesthesia to you so you can be comfortable during the procedure. We will shave off about half a millimeter of the enamel from your teeth so the veneer may not feel bulky in your mouth. Therefore, this process is irreversible since enamel cannot grow back.

After that, we will take an impression of your teeth, which will then be sent to a dental lab to create a veneer for you. Usually, the construction of a veneer can take about two weeks.

When the veneer is completed, you will come for your second appointment, where we will check to see if the veneer is made to size and whether it exactly matches your teeth. We will then polish and etch your teeth so that the veneer may bond tightly to the surface. Once your veneer is in a perfect position, we will use a UV light to bond it to your teeth.

Once the veneer has been set, we will shave off any excess material, make final adjustments and check your bite.

In addition, we may also recommend a follow-up visit in a few weeks to see whether your gums are responding well to the treatment.

Veneer placement is a simple process and can protect your teeth for decades if you take care of them. However, you will always need to keep the teeth that have undergone enamel shaving protected since the enamel cannot grow back.

Because of its irreversible nature, it is a good idea to schedule a consultation session with Dr. Hasan Dbouk at Edmonds Dental Studio so that you are aware of all the pros and cons of such a treatment. Call us at (425) 775-1045 today!
